The
SawStop blade
|
The
SawStop blade brake could some day be considered the "tablesaw
airbag" and the comparison is valid. When this safety device detects
skin touching a spinning tablesaw blade, it automatically slams
on the brakes, cutting power to the motor and halting the blade
within a few microseconds. We have, in our website, two different
videos for you to view.
The
first is streaming video of the infamous "hot dog test" seen by
thousands of woodworkers and tool manufacturers at the 2000 International
Woodworking and Furniture Supply Fair in Atlanta last August.
|
 |
The second
is "super-slow-motion video" showing how the plastic brake pawl engages
the teeth of the spinning blade, stopping it without damaging it. To
view this video, you'll have to download the video, which takes only
a few minutes at 56k. Make sure you select the proper file type-Windows
Media Player or Quicktime-for your computer.
