Chaise Longue

Chaise LongueWith our world and lifestyle breaking all the barriers of speed, connectivity, knowledge, decor and every possible thing around us, Americans are still haunted by their spellings. A Chaise Longue is basically an upholstered sofa which offers enough space to support legs and is in the form of chair. Sounds like Chaise Lounge, doesn't it? That's where the mistake is. We can install luxurious and expensive suites in our bathrooms and can deal with free standing bathroom furniture in a place where we just spend around 1% of our time every day, but when it comes to knowing them, we falter. The term Chaise Lounge is so widespread in US, that it's no longer considered to be erroneous and can be found in dictionaries too.

There are different types of chaise longues which you can use to adorn the looks of your décor. Chaise longues are classified on the basis of their material, their structure and the places where they can be incorporated.

On the basis of material used, chaise longues are classified as Fabric Chase Longues, Leather Chase Longues, Microsuede and Microfibers Longues. Fabric Chase Longues require regular cleaning with simple vacuuming to keep it clean and long lasting. Leather Chase Longues are extremely durable and can be easily cleaned with a bit of wiping. Higher the quality of leather used, more durable the Longue will be which will in turn increase the cost. Microsuede Longues are made out of extremely fine filaments which make it luxurious and very easy to clean. There is also a chaise longue known as Sunlounger which is meant for relaxing outdoors and can be placed in your patio, swimming pool deck, garden or on beachside. And if you can, try and place it in your bathrooms, if they get enough sun!

When a chaise longue is divided into a chair and a long footstool, or a stool in between two chairs then it is called as Duchesse brisee. A neo-classical style of chaise longue is called as Recamier which consists of two raised ends and nothing on the long sides.

Chaise longues create an incredibly inviting ambiance and transforms your living room from a dour one to a much livelier place. And when you also create a setting complementing your chaise longue then it can act as the most defining personal piece in your living room.
