Eco-friendly
home
Architect: Elisa Villa*
Eco
friendly houses are strangely branded "mans third
skin". Why is this?
Okay, the reason being is that they act against protection
and defence whilst also offering physical and psychological
well being. Therefore, it would be fair to say that
health starts from inside the home. So if this is
true, how do we go about creating a domestic environment
that meets our health needs? The answers are all contained
in an eco-friendly architectural project, which combines
creativity with a whole host of exoteric and esoteric
factors that creates synergy between functions, forms
and materials.

The
materials used are biocompatible. This basically means that
they can absorb stress-created by external and internal (indoor)
pollution. Therefore, the materials used in bio-friendly
construction must be selected with great care- particularly
those that are physical-chemical based.
Walls, for example have to meet recognized criteria. They
must be resistant to heavy bumps and knocks, thermally insulated,
water-proof and fire resistant. |
Lets
now focus on electrical set-ups. Experts claim that the best
solution for electrical systems is to use shielded cable-using
a star instead of a ring system. However the most significant
way to reduce electro-magnetic waves is to have a well-timed
electrical cable system.Lets finally touch upon water: there
are two important networks:
One which is drinkable and the other for different use (such
as central heating, W.C, washing machine) that can be recycled
from natural rain water.
